and neighbors.
We realize that with the
budget problems you are faced
with, you are trying to come up
with a viable solution, but
please try to consider the
students, parents, employees
and local businesses that will be
affected.
We have always supported
your decisions in the past,
please don't go for a "quick
fix" attitude that may lead to a
very expensive lesson in the
future.
Sincerely,

Disagree with contracting services

County School Superintendent
As life long residents of
Heppner, parents of a school
age child and as business
owners, we are writing to you
to appeal to your decision con
cerning the "C ontracting"
of Food Services, Transporta
tion and Maintenance.
We strongly disagree with
any such "contracting". Our
reasons being as follows: a. loss
of local control; b. loss of
business for us and other
business in our communities; c.
job loss for many of our friends

It's great to have a new
business in Heppner. Take a
moment to stop by "Twice
Upon A Time" to browse for
books. There's nothing better
after the holiday rush is over
than curling up beside the
Christmas tree with a good
book. So, bundle up your us
ed books and head for the new
Brosnan business before
Christmas.
By Sunday, Dec. 18,
everyone should have lights
twinkling on their houses and
in their windows. Be sure to
have them lit as Santa's helpers
scurry around to judge the 1994
winners.
Mark your calendars for
Tuesday, December 20. Take a
calorie break by visiting the
Chamber/CAPECO/GEODC
open house where you'll find
refreshments, door prizes and
good company from 1 to 4 p.m.
Thought for the week:
"Yesterday is a cancelled
check; tomorrow is a promisory
note; today is cash in hand;
spend it wisely".
