Irene Anhorn
visits relatives
Irene Anhorn, Heppner,
went to Central Point with her
daughter, Cathy Christenson
Thursday to attend a memorial
service for her nephew, Melvin
Anhorn.
The weekend was spent
visiting with relatives and
friends.
They stayed at the home of
her son and family, Mike, An
nette, Tricia and Mary E. Friday
evening they went to the foot
ball game where Crater beat
Roseburg 10-0. Irene's grand
daughter Mary E., is a cheer
leader for the Crater Comets.
Obituaries
Harvey Robert Moore
Harvey Robert Moore, 84,
died October 1, 1994 at his
home in Portland.
He was born in Heppner on
October 24, 1909 to Emmett
and Mae Moore. In his early
years he herded sheep out of
Lonerock and lived in The
Dalles, Hood River and Dufur
before retiring in Portland.
He was preceded in death by
his wife Alicia Sybouts Moore
and brothers Ralph and
Clarence Moore.
He is survived by sons Larry
of Hood River and David Keith
of Salem; daughters Diana
Parker, Gresham and Sandra
Moore, Portland; and sisters
Callie Huddleston, Heppner;
Bertha Street, Redding, CA.
A memorial service will be
held Sunday of Memorial Day
weekend 1995 at the church in
Lonerock.
Elaine " Kitty" Spivey
Elaine “Kitty" Spivey, 69, of
Baker City, died Tuesday,
September 27, 1994 in Chico,
CA.
Graveside services were held
September 30 at Mt. Hope
Memorial cemetery in Baker
City.
Mrs. Spivey was born
November 27, 1924, in Austin,
to John and Maggie Combs.
She grew up at Austin and
Bates and attended school,
there.
She married Harvey Spivey
of Baker City in 1952. They liv
ed in Baker City for a short time
and then moved to the logging
community of Camp Five near
Kinzua where Harvey worked
in logging. Upon his retirement
they moved back to Baker City
where they resided until
Harvey's death in 1981. Mrs.
Spivey remained in Baker City
until August 1993. She then
moved to Biggs, CA. where she
resided with her son Bill.
Mrs. Spivey enjoyed spen
ding time with her family and
going for long drives.
Survivors include a daughter
Sue Orr of Prairie City; sons Bill
Roberts of Biggs, CA.; Robert
Hire of Heppner and Frank
Spivey of Baker City; 13 grand
children,
three
great
grandchildren; six sisters and
one brother.
She was preceded in death
by her parents John and Mag
gie Combs, her husband
Harvey Spivey, a daughter,
Colleen Hire, a sister Shirley
Indicott and a brother Bob
Combs.
Funeral arrangements were
made by Mrs. Spivey's children
and Bishop Lyle DeFreeze of
the LDS church in Baker City.

according to Skip Matthews,
county executive director for
the Morrow County ASCS,
“The local office processes
these payments which takes
three to five days, so producers
should expect to receive their
annual rental payments
sometime next week," Mat
thews said. There are 110,964
acres enrolled in USDA's CRP
program in Morrow County.
The program removes highly
erodible land from production
in return for an annual pay
ment, said Matthews.
