supported by time, talents and
monetary gifts from the
Lutheran Churches of the Blue
Mountain Cluster for the past
15 years. This marks an occa­
sion where some of the chur­
ches of the cluster can come
together and see the growth
and ministry of the Boardman
church.
Pastor Berray Scruggs cur­
rently serves the congregation
as an intern pastor, the first
resident pastor the congrega­
tion has had in years.
After the 11 a.m. celebration
service, all the worshippers will
be invited to a picnic lunch and
games at the Boardman
Marina. People from Valby and
Hope Lutheran churches will
bring either salad or dessert to
the picnic.
An early informal commu­
nion service at Hope Lutheran
Church, Heppner is scheduled
for 8:30 a.m. There will be no
worship services at Valby
Lutheran Church on Aug. 21.

fairgrounds Aug. 18, 4-H
livestock auction, Merchants'
sidewalk sale Friday, Episcopal
Church barbecue, Saturday, 4
to 7 p.m. Masonic Lodge
breakfast before the parade,
just 'Horsin' Around in Mor­
row County'.
Everybody needs to have
some fun to get the creative
juices flowing. Check out the
Chamber booth at the fair
where board members did a bit
of horsin' around. Enjoy other
events and activities during the
weekend. Welcome strangers
to the community and en­
courage them to have a great
time dancing, eating, shopp­
ing, participating in fair events,
and applauding their favorite
cowboy. Kick up your heels
and have a good time in
Heppner.

eat breakfast, church and Mor­
row County Rodeo.

Auditions set
Auditions for parts in the
Nutcracker ballet have been
scheduled for Saturday, Aug.
27, at the Vert Auditorium in
Pendleton. Children six years
and up are invited to audition.

Kinzua monies
distributed
Recipients of the Kinzua
community grants have been
announced. Kinzua Corpora­
tion awarded $250,000 for com­
munity projects as a goodwill
gesture to the Heppner-
Lexington-Ione community
following the mill's change of
»hands.
Following are projects which
will receive funding: South
Morrow County Scholarship
Trust-$10,000 to establish
scholarships; Pioneer Memorial
Hospital-$25,000 for partial fun­
ding of x-ray equipment; South
Morrow County EMT Associa-
tion-$15,000 for two defibril­
lators; Heppner Day Care-
$7,000 for a learning library;
Willow Creek Park District-
$20,000 partial funding RV
park; Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo
Committee-$25,000 partial fun­
ding rodeo facilities; Heppner
Baseball Field Committee-
$5,000 partial funding; lone
American Legion Post no. 95-
$3,000 partial funding
modernization.
Three additional projects
were funded contingent upon
the plans being approved and
the balance of the projects'
costs allocated. These projects
were Heppner Chamber of
Commerce-$20,000 partial fun­
ding public restroom; Morrow
County Museum-$75,000 par­
tial funding museum expan­
sion; and People for the
Pool-$45,000.
