Celebrate July
Fourth safely
The Fourth of July is fast ap
proaching. To celebrate safely
with fireworks this holiday,
follow these safety tips:
When you head for the back-
country, leave the fireworks at
home. They are not allowed on
any U.S. Forest Service land.
Purchase only legal fireworks
from licensed dealers. Always
read and follow the directions.
Have an adult present. Proper
supervision can prevent
dangerous mishandling. Keep
everyone at a safe distance after
each firework is lit. Don’t use
near dry grass or other flammable
materials. Have your “ B-4”
bucket (before you start, fill a
bucket full of water and place it
nearby), for emergencies and for
dousing misfired and spent
fireworks. Dispose of fireworks
properly. Avoid relighting if they
fail to work.
