Student-parent
exchange
cancelled
The Partners in Education
parent-student swap has been
postponed, Heppner High School
principal Steve Dickenson has an
nounced. The exchange day was
planned for May 18.
Dickenson said that the 21st
Century Schools Site Committee
still supports the parent-student
exchange day, but because it is
such a busy time of the year, the
com m ittee now plans to
reschedule it in the fall.
In the exchange, a student who
is able to have a parent or other
member of the community attend
school for him, may stay home
for the day. The parent attends a
shortened version of the student’s
school day and leams more about
his child’s education.
Dickenson said that he ap
preciates those who signed up for
the exchange and apologizes for
any inconvenience the reschedul
ing has caused.
He says that perhaps the ex
change program can be schedul
ed on a Friday, when the students
will not be attending school
because o f the new four-day stu
dent week.
For more information or to of
fer suggestions on the program,
call Dickenson, 676-9138, or
visit with any member of the site
committee.
