Ione youth group makes annual trek to Burnside
work. On Monday the groups
worked at various service
organizations, including the Blan-
chet House, Loaves and Fishes,
Outreach Ministries, Recovery
Inn and The Sister of the Road
Cafe. Their duties were mainly
serving and delivering meals as
well as cleaning and office work.
After an overnight stay at the
First Congregational Church near
Broadway, the lone youth split
into two groups. On Tuesday one
group helped serve lunch at the
Blanchet House and the other
washed walls at the Greenhouse
Youth Shelter before starting for
home.
Highlights for this trip includ­
ed television coverage by KATU
Channel 2 and the renewal of an
old acquaintance. When the lone

departed from lone at 7 a.m. on
Monday, March 21. By 10 a.m.
they were in Portland, divided in­
to groups and ready to get to

McElligott. While working at one
of the agencies, this trip, Don
spotted Cathy Halvorsen’s lone
sweatshirt. He remembered
everything about his last en­
counter with the lone Youth
Group, including what was
served.

Cards lose first
tennis match

The lone Cardinals got their
tennis season underway last Fri­
day, April 1, playing in Condon.
The Blue Devils came out on the
high side, winning three of the
four matches that day. There
were no boys’ games.
In singles' play Jessie Stefani

breaker to win her first set 7-6
