The game against Arlington
held in Ione Saturday. Jan. t5
was no contest for the lady Car
dinals who equalled the Honkers'
game total in the first quarter.
With liberal playing time for the
second team, the Cards ran away
with a 72-24 win.
Michelle Walbom of Arlington
was the game's leading scorer
with 22 points, all but two of her
team’s total. For the Cards. April
Taylor was high scorer with 15.
Jamie Lovett was the only other
player in double figures with 13.
Once again the rebounding story
was all C ardinals. Suzy

drilled the Honkers 53-24. Becky
Wagenblast dished out five assists

The Ione Cardinals started their
league season off on the right foot
last weekend defeating Condon
80-41 on Friday, Jan. 14 and Arl
ington on Saturday, Jan. 15 at
home.
In Condon on Friday, the Car
dinals had five players in double
figures as they cruised to a vic
tory. Jason Halvorsen, with seven
of eight shooting from the field
and parked on the bench in foul
trouble for much of the game, led
the Cards with 16 points. Jason
Proud foot made three three-point
shots and was fouled on two other
three point attempts where he
made five of his six free throws
for 14 points. Jim Logan also had
14 and Jared Ashbeck and Aaron
Heideman kicked in 13 apiece.
Coach Del LaRue was pleased
with the balanced scoring. “ It
makes it tough for the other team
to concentrate on one guy,” he
noted.
Aaron Heideman had a fine
rebouding effort, leading the team
with 16 boards. Logan led with
eight assists but there were plen
ty more to go around as Jared
Ashbeck had five and Proudfoot
added four. Jake Bacon had four
m*-
steals while Ashbeck, Nathan
Heideman and Aaron Heideman
each had three. Halvorsen had
seven blocked shots in the game.
The Cards had a hot shooting
night making 31 of 65 for 48 per
cent from the floor and 13 of 18
for 72 percent from the line. The
Blue Devils shot 16 of 47 for 34
percent from the field and five of
