Classes of 1988-90 wins alumni tournament
Members of the classes of 1988
to 1990 emerged victorious in the
sixth annual Heppner High
School alumni tournament held
Dec. 31 to Jan. 2. Organizer
Stuart Dick, Hermiston, said that
this was the first year a class
younger than 1985 has won the
tourney.
Bobby Krein was the three-
point champion for the third year
in a row and Dana Reid, the
women’s free throw winner.
Dick said that a highlight of the
event was the alumni banquet
which was new to the tournament
this year. The banquet drew over
100 people. Dick said that alum­
nus and former student body
president, Diane Holland Cassins
added a ’’very moving” touch to
the dinner. Holland, who has

One hundred seven people were present for the birthday dinner
at the senior center December 29. Six meals were taken out. Members
of the Mormon church served. Sylvia McDaniel won the meal ticket,
Judy won the door prize, Florence Beckett received the birthday gift
and Sue Scott won the guest prize.
The menu for Jan. 12 will be chicken ala-king with rice, vegetable,
mixed fruit, rolls and chocolate pudding. Members of the Catholic
church will serve. The senior center board will meet following the
meal.
Eight people went to Hermiston on the senior bus to the New Year’s
Eve dance. They reported having a good time.
Eight seniors enjoyed the movie Sunday night ‘Cop and a H a lf’.

Notice is hereby given that on
January 10, 1993, at 9:00 a.m .,
the board of equalization of the
County of Morrow, Oregon, will
meet at the County Courthouse in
Heppner, Oregon, to:
Hear petitions for reduction of
the real market or assessed value
of property as of July 1.
Hear petitions to excuse
penalties for late filing of real or
personal property returns.
A schedule of hearings for
those who request to present will
be posted daily in the Morrow
County Courthouse.
Executive sessions may be held
during the session as required by
ORS 308.290(7), ORS 308.411,
and ORS 308.413.
All other hearing will be
scheduled as time allows. If you
have requested to be present at
the hearing you will be notified
of the time and place to appear.

The Morrow County District
Attorney’s office at the cour­
thouse in Heppner reports handl­
ing the following business during
the past week:
Carlos Cipriano Mendoza, Ir-
rigon, was convicted Jan. 3 of
Assault IV. Mendoza received
180 days in jail, suspended, with
a $587 fine. The conviction stems
from a Jan. I incident with Men­
doza’s ex-girlfriend in which
Mendoza grabbed the girlfriend
and shoved her into a car;
Henry Burl Stickler, formerly
of the Boardman area, was ar­
rested by Oregon State Police on
Dec. 31. Stickler was charged
with Driving While Revoked and
Giving False Information to a
police officer. Stickler was stop­
ped on 1-84 and allegedly gave a
false name to the officer. When
the officer determined Stickler’s
true name, a check determined
that he was wanted in Linn Coun­
ty for similar charges and a pro­
bation revocation;
Samuel Campos. Irrigon, was
arrested Jan. 1 and charged with

ed on his own recognizance pen­
ding trial.

By virtue of a judgment entered
in the above entitled court and
cause on July 8, 1991, it was ad­
judged that the real property,
described hereunder, be sold by
the sheriff of Morrow County for
cash in a final sale with no
minimum bid required and no
right of reserve or right to
withdraw. All bidders must
qualify to bid by delivery to the
sheriff by the time of the sale (1)
a letter of credit from a bank upon
which the sheriff may draw if the
bidder is successful; (2) a
cashier’s check; or (3) any form
of funds, which in the opinion o f
the sheriff, is guaranteed without
delay available upon completion
of the bidding. The bids are
payable upon declaration of the
sheriff that the bid was suc­
cessful. The sheriff will transfer
title to the successful bidder by
deed signed by all the parties to
the lawsuit, except Equitable Life
Assurance Society, transferring
all the parties' right, title and in­
terest to the property free and
clear of all persons claiming by,
through or under them and also
transferring the property free and
clear of all claims of Equitable
Life Assurance Society and real
property taxes. The deed will
reserve ( 1 ) possession of the im­
provements and pasture for thir­
ty (30) days from the date of the
sale to vacate the premises; and
(2) the right of Kilkenny Ranches
to tend the crops growing on the
property and to harvest and
remove the crops. Except as pro­
vided above as to improvements,
pasture and crops, the purchaser
is entitled to exclusive possession
of the real property from and after
the completion of the sale and is
entitled to such remedies as are
available at law to secure posses­
sion, including a w rit of
assistance. The exact terms of the
sale are set forth in the judgment
in this case found in the files of
the Circuit Court at the Morrow
County Courthouse in Heppner,
Oregon and your reference is
directed to those terms set forth
in the judgment.
