seceding from the country
frighten you? Does it send chills
up your spine? Think what it
would do to Washington, D.C.,
and the rest of the country.
It’s time for an extremist voice
to take up the call. The same type
of voice of a John Adams, a Mar
tin Luther King, a Cesar Chavez
to confront an injustice. Someone
that cannot be bought or threaten
ed. Someone that will stand toe
to toe against those who are bent
on destroying our quality of life.
It is time for somebody to say no
to a president named Bill just like
a group of people 217 years ago
said no to a king named George.
To the Editor:
I am angry. Angry that out
siders from Washington, D.C.
and the Eastern Establishment are
trying to turn my state into a
wasted wilderness for private,
selfish reasons.
It is obvious that this group has
Mr. Clinton in their back pocket.
The current occupant of the
White House is trying to destroy
Oregon’s wood products in
dustry. He is also trying to take
away our farms, ranches, fishing
industry, homes and guns.
There have been only two
members of Oregon’s congres
sional delegation that have spoken
up about this crisis, and not one
governor or gubernatorial can
didate has even wanted to talk
about it. The people who want to
sleep in the governor’s mansion
are sleeping on the true issues.
Oregonians know they have
“ God’s country” and know how
to manage it and not destroy it.
Do you really think the wood pro
ducts industry will cut down so
many trees that they will put
themselves out of business? The
true environmentalists are Orego
nians. We use our forest for all
purposes and we are still green.
Does the thought of Oregon
Dear editor, the issue is not
more taxes for state government
but saving our natural resource
industries and creating new jobs.
It is time for Oregonians to take
back Oregon.
Please notify your readers that
this is a grass roots movement. I
am just a person from the streets.
I need their support. If I have that
support, I will run governor of
Oregon and seek the Democratic
party nomination in the May
primary election.
Sincerely,
(s) Bill Bowen
