“ A Savior Christ the Lord” is
the theme of mid-week Advent
services held at Valby Lutheran
Church on Wednesday and Hope
on Thursday. Both services begin
at 7:30 p.m. A series of three
mid-week worship services will
begin December 1 and end Dec.
16. Each week will emphasize
one of the words in the theme:
“ Savior” , “ Christ” and “ The
Lord” . Offerings at these ser
vices will go to the work of the
Oregon Synod of the ELCA.
Sunday. Dec. 5 the congrega
tion of Valby will hold adult Bi
ble class at 8:15 a.m. The class
is studying the Letter to the
Hebrews. At 9 a.m. the con
gregation will gather for celebra
tion of Holy Communion. Pastor
Hobing will preach on the theme
of “ Prepare the Way” based on
scripture reading of St. Mark
1 : 1 - 8 .
Hope Lutheran church will
celebrate Holy Communion at 11
a.m. The children will practice
the Christmas program at 11 a.m.
Members and friends are urged
to bring mittens and hats to
benefit children of the area. A
special hat and mitten tree will be
displayed in the main entrance
way of the church building.

Morrow SWCD/Weed Control
District will hold a regular
meeting Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the
Irrigon city hall.
Items on the agenda include the
94-95 budget review, an annual
meeting review and a review of
the Goodyear Report.
The meeting will begin at 1
p.m.
Snowmobile club kicks off season
The Four Comers Snowmobile
Club kicks off the 1993-94 season
with its first meeting on Dec. 8
at 7 p.m. at the Heppner Elks
Club.
Members are urged to pay their
state and local dues.

Millie Hanna won the birthday prize at the senior dinner Nov. 24
Joe Engleman won the guest prize. Rose Marie Buschke the door
prize and Cecil the free meal ticket.
There were 69 present for dinner and eight meals were sent out.
Members of the Baptist and Christian Missionary Fellowship chur
ches served.
The menu for December 8 will be turkey ala king over rice, toss
ed salad with carrots, muffins, applesauce and cookies. Members
of the Episcopal church will serve. The senior center board will meet
following the meal.
The senior center office was closed Thursday and Friday for the
Thanksgiving holiday. There was no movie Sunday night.
The seniors will have a table at the Artifactory and ask that as many
seniors as possible bring crafts or foods, jelly, candy, cookies, etc.
The drawing for the tree skirt will be held at the Artifactory. Tickets
are still available at the senior center.
The Red Cross blood drawing will be held at the center Dec. 9.
