I CARP OP THANKS
This is one last well-deserved
thanks to the community of lone.
In this day and age when it
seems the “ thing to do” is go
down to the local cafe and com
plain, I want to shed some light
on a wonderful thing going on all
around us every day. This thing
is our community love and sup
port for one another. I have
always been very aware of it,
who isn’t? At sporting events, we
always have the largest fan sec
tion, whether our team is home
or away. When walking in town,
every person you see says “ Hi” .
I asked a number of people to
write reference letters for scholar
ships this year. Every person took
the time to write a wonderful let
ter, without ever expecting
anything but “ thanks” in return.
Never before was I as engulf
ed in this support as I was on my
graduation night. There were
numerous local scholarships
given by clubs and memorial
funds. None of these organiza
tions had to give anything, but
they all chose to, in support of us
graduates and our future. In the
reception line so many people
walked through to give con
gratulations and hugs. It made me
feel as though I was such a part
of this community; that not only
was I going to miss it, but the
people were going to miss me as
well. The greatest shock came
when I got home and saw the
huge pile of gifts and cards. I was
amazed when I began to open
them. People were incredibly giv
ing and generous. I received
cards and even gifts from some
people whom I barely knew.
They were people who wanted to
support all of us. When you know
that-you have so many people
backing you and caring about
you, you feel as though you can
conquer the world.
I honestly have to say that
graduation was one of the best
days ever, thanks to this com
munity. I felt special and loved
by so many people. I hope to do
something very big with my life,
and I will always remember to
whom I owe my success-lone.
I also want all of you people sit
ting in the local cafe right now,
to know that I will miss you.
