Weddings
Kathy Cutsforth hired as
new pre-school teacher
Kathy Cutsforth
Kathy Cutsforth of Heppner,
has been hired as the new teacher
for Heppner Pre-School.
Cutsforth, 36, received a
bachelor of science degree in
multiple studies with an emphasis
in elementary education from
LaRue — Buczynski
Michelle Dena LaRue of Sheridan and Jerry Buczynski of Amity
were married in a double-ring ceremony July 10, 1993 at the lone
United Church of Christ.
The Rev. Lea Mathieu of lone performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Del and Linda LaRue of lone. Buc­
zynski is the son of Aner and Donna Buczynski of Amity.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a tradi­
tional white satin gown with a v-neckline. The gown was accented
with pearls and sequins and featured a low v-back and train. Her
veil was attached to a caplet of pearls and sequins. She carried a bou­
quet of assorted fresh flowers featuring pink roses.
Maid of honor was Heidi Conboy of Pendleton. Matron of honor
was Lorrie Andrews of Unity. Bridesmaids were Molly Belsher of
Wasco, and Denise LaRue of Portland.
Best man was Gary Hull of Salem. Groomsmen were Jeff White,
Amity, Jeff Gough. McMinville and Mike McQuire, Heppner.
Candlelighters were Coby and Cayben Marshall, nephews of the
bride. Flower girl was Shanna Rietmann of Heppner. Ringbearers
were Zachary LaRue of Warrenton an Joshua LaRue of Portland,
both nephews of the bride. Readers were Shawn LaRue of Portland
and Robin LaRue of Warrenton, brothers of the bride. Soloists were
Terri McElligott and Dustin Padberg. Organist was Rikka Tews, lone.
A reception at the lone Legion Hall followed the ceremony.
The bride graduated in 1982 from lone High School, from Oregon
State University in 1986 and received her master’s degree in business
education in 1991 from Portland State. She teaches business at
Sheridan High School.
The bridegroom graduated from Amity High School and attended
Western Oregon State. He works for Willamina Schools.
After a wedding trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple lives
in Sheridan.

There were 115 people present for the senior dinner Aug. 11 in­
cluding six visitors. One meal was taken out. Members of the lone
United Church of Christ served. Katherine Hoskins won the meal
ticket, Bebe Munkers the door prize and Theta Lowe’s daughter Sue
Scott of Spokane, WA. the guest prize. The senior center board met
following the meal.
The menu for the birthday dinner Aug. 25 will be beef stroganoff,
green beans, coleslaw with carrots, muffins, cake and ice cream.
Members of the Mormon church will serve.
A long-time goal of the senior center has been accomplished. A
new walk-in freezer was installed recently by John Woods and
assistants.
There are several bus trips planned. Thursday, Aug. 19 two trips
will be made to Cecil, at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and a trip to Mission
meal site is planned Tues., Ang. 24, 9:30 a.m. A potluck picnic will
be held at Gonty’s cabin Sunday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. sign-up sheets
are in the center office for these trips.
There is a need for pies and workers for the senior pie booth Thurs­
day and Friday at the fair. Call the senior office 676-9030 or Irene
Schroeder if you can help.

Eastern Oregon State College in
1980. She grew up in the
Heppner area and graduated from
Burns High School. For the past
three years, Cutsforth has been a
retail manager for a Fortune 500
company. This is her first pre­
school position.
Cutsforth welcomes input and
ideas from pre-school parents. “ I
hope we can really turn a lot of
kids on to learning,” she said.
There are still openings in both
three and four year-old classes.
Pre-school begins on Tuesday,
Sept. 7 for four year olds and
September 8 for three year-olds.
Four year-old registration fee is
$10 with a $50 per month tuition.
They will attend Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to
11:30 a.m . Three year-old
registration fee is $7.50 with a
$25 per month tuition fee. They
will attend Wednesdays from
8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Some
scholarships are available for low
income families.
