The small bus took nine seniors to Monument on Tuesday, July
20, where they had lunch at the Monument Senior meal site.
There were 121 people in attendance at the Heppner meal site dinner
W ed., July 21, including visitors from Maryland, Virginia and John
Day. Grace Steers won the meal ticket, John Wood the door prize
and Judy Samples of Maryland and Ken Bogart of John Day won
the guest prizes. Members of the Methodist Church served. The floral
arrangements decorating the dining room and sitting room were made
by the flower arranging class on Tuesday evening. The Senior Center
board.met following the meal.
A welcome home party was held for Florence and Millard Holt
in the sitting room, after the senior dinner. Approximately 50 peo
ple attended. Florence Holt returned to Bend the following day for
further treatment.
Friday the large bus driven by Ed Baker took 19 seniors to Mit
chell, where lunch was enjoyed at the meal site.
There were 12 people present for the Sunday night movie ‘City
Slickers’.
Dates to remember: Thursday, July 29, bus to Mission meal site
for lunch. Departure time is 9 a.m .; Friday cards, games and visiting
in the rec room, 2:30 p.m.; Sunday movie in the rec room, 7 p.m.;
Monday, Aug. 2, Garden club 7:30 p.m .; Tues., Aug 3, final flower
arranging class in the dining room, 7 p.m.; Wed., Aug. 4, hearing
aid assistance, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; blood pressures, 11 a.m.; senior meal
at noon followed by Meal Site Committee meeting; foot clinic, 1:30
p.m.
The menu for August 4 will be oven fried chicken, baked beans,
cole slaw, carrot sticks, muffins and mixed fruit. Members of the
Lutheran Church will serve.

Susan Martin, Eugene, and Scott Warner, Lakeview, announce
their engagement to be married.
Susan is the daughter of Tom and Shirley Martin, Lexington. She
graduated from Heppner High School in 1986 and from Oregon State
University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural and resource
economics in 1991. She is employed at Liberty Federal Bank.
Scott’s parents are Bob and Sharon Warner, Lakeview. He
graduated from Lakeview High School in 1984 and from Oregon State
University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural and resource
economics in 1988. He graduated from the University of Oregon Law
School this year.
The couple plan a Sept. 11 wedding at the Lakeview Presbyterian
Church.
Court travels to The Dalles rodeo
The 1993 Morrow County Fair
and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo
Court traveled to The Dalles last
Saturday for the Ft. Dalles Rodeo
and Parade.
Queen Elizabeth Doherty and
princesses Sara Greenup and
Rondi Robinson, along with flag
bearers Kathleen Greenup and
Dawn Boor, received a second
place ribbon for their efforts.
After the parade, the court were
guests of Queen Rachel Riley for
a luncheon at NW Aluminum in
The Dalles. Each court was given
an opportunity to speak about
their upcoming events to the
crowd at the state Chili Cook-Off
being held on the grounds. The
event was broadcast live on the
radio as well.
The court participated in the
grand entry for the evening rodeo
performance. Sunday, July 18,
the court presented awards at the
Morrow County Open Horse
Show. Chief Joseph Days is on
their schedule for this weekend.
G rief recovery group to meet
A grief recovery group will
meet at the lone United Church
o f C hrist the first three
Wednesdays of August, beginn
ing at 7:30 p.m.
The group will be led by
Lauren Allen, the church’s sum
mer intern, who is a recent
of Pacific School of
Religion in Berkeley, CA. In
leading discussion, Allen will be
using several books including
“ Praying our Goodbyes” , “ The
Grief Recovery Handbook” and
“ Good G rie f’.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

its annual church camp-out Fri
day, July 30 through Sunday,
August 1 at Cutsforth Park.
Activities for the family will be
held on Saturday. A service will
be held at the park on Sunday at
11 a.m ., followed by a potiuck at
12:30 p.m. For those who can’t
make it to the park, a service will
also be held at the church at
10:30. There will be no Sunday
