This ac­ tion follows recent heavy run-offs in the Willow Creek drainage system. County officials have now compiled a list of people living along the creek. In the event that a significant amount of water has to be released, they will be notified via a telephone call down system . If weather conditions indicate that a heavy run-off is possible, the National Weather Service of­ fice in Pendleton will provide hourly updates to county officials and the Corps of Engineers, allowing them to respond to changing conditions faster. Final­ ly, the Corps of Engineers is im­ proving its coordination and notification procedures to give county officials more time to prepare for releases from the dam. The Corps of Engineers will Andrea Denton Andrea Denton has been hired as the executive secretary for the Morrow County Court and per­ sonnel director for the county. Denton, who replaced LoRayne Bowman who recently resigned, began work in her new position on March 15. Denton started employment with the county 13 years ago in the Irrigon Justice Court. She spent seven years in the Justice Court and six years as child sup­ port officer for the Morrow County DA. Denton, 31, is married to Mor­ row County Undersheriff Verlin Denton. They have a daughter Leah, 10. entering Willow Creek downstream from the dam, such as from Hinton or Shobe Creek. When these tributaries are runn­ ing higher, outflow from the reservoir behind the dam will be reduced to prevent flooding on Willow Creek. Currently, the United States Geological Survey is monitoring stream flows along the Willow Creek drainage system. Based on St. Patrick’s Senior Center Bulletin Board One hundred four people were present for the senior dinner on March 17. Six dinners were taken out. Members of the Episcopal church served. Norma French won the meal ticket and Dorothy Henderson won the door prize. The sixth grade band, under the direc­ tion of Bob Isted, played several pieces. The music was greatly en­ joyed by all. The menu for March 31 will be sweet and sour chicken, rice, mixed vegetables, coleslaw, bread, ice cream and cake. Members of the First Christian Church will serve. The tenants of the senior apartments welcome Elsie Houston, the new tenant. The apartments are now filled. The Housing Authority meeting will be Monday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in the sitting room. The Senior Focus on Health group will meet Tuesday, March 30 in the dining room. They will be planning for the Health Fair to be held April 29. The Friday afternoon card games and the Sunday movie are being enjoyed by a good sized group but there is room for more to participate. BMCC tie dye class slated Blue Mountain Community College will be offering a Tie Dy­ ing Class in the Heppner High School home ec. room on Satur­ day, April 3 from 12 to 4 p.m. The class is open to children age nine and older as well as adults. Students will learn a fun and easy microwave tie dying method which includes the popular star- burst and marbelized designs. Tuition for the class is $10 to BMCC. Each student needs to purchase the fabric dvc tics which are included in an additional $3 lab fee. This will enable students to dye at least four dif­ ferent items they bring. Prewash­ ed cotton blend t-shirts, sweat­ shirts, shorts, hats or socks are recommended. Students are also asked to bring rubber gloves, rub­ ber bands, and wooden spoons. This will prevent releasing too much water from the reservoir, causing flooding downstream.
