Chamber Chatter
By Claudia Hughes. Chamber Manager
It happens every year about this
time...a taste of spring in the air
and people far and wide start
thinking “ green” . In Heppner
that means St. Patrick’s Weekend
is just around the corner. Tour
groups and concessionaires have
started calling, the search is on
for unique and appealing auction
items, a new collectors button is
on the drawing board, sheepdogs
are running, pageant rehearsals
are scheduled and the leprechauns
are hopping.
All people selling food or other
items are asked to contact Rene
Devin at the city of Heppner to
make arrangem ents. Judie
Laughlin is handling the craft fair
booths. Tuesday, February 2, at
7 p.m. at the Columbia Basin
Conference Room the final
scheduling will be completed for
our annual Wee Bit O’lreland in
Oregon. It’s hard volunteer work
for Heppner. but it puts us on the
map and brings new people to our
home town. We can be proud of
our celebration.
Flash-beginning February 2
Chamber will again be meeting
on Tuesdays at the Elks. At this
business meeting, 1993 goals will
be presented to the membership
for approval. Included on the
agenda will be reports from the
Heppner Coordinating Council,
Heppner Economic Develop
ment., the city, county, schools,
forest service, Neighborhood
Center, park district, auction
committee and much more.
Chamber tries to keep the lines
of communication open, so that
everyone has a voice in and
knowledge of “ what’s happen
ing” . Come to chamber; we
welcome your membership.
Thought for the week: “ Life is
not a cup to be drained, but a
measure to be filled.”
