Urge NO on Measures 5 & 6
Measures 5 & 6 would each:
Immediately shut down the TVojan
electric plant—increasing the risk of
power shortages.
Cost consumers nearly $500 million in
higher electric bills.
Electricity supplies are already tight. Yet, Measures
5 and 6 would each shut down Trojan immediately—
cutting off nearly 20% o f our state’s electricity supply,
with no time to develop replacement power.
Studies show that the immediate shutdown o f Trojan
proposed by Measures 5 and 6 would increase our
electric bills— costing consumers nearly $500 million
dollars more than the existing plan to phase out Trojan
in 4 years.
Cause nearly 1,000 workers at
Trojan to immediately lose their jobs—
and damage our economy.
Put more pressure on our hydroelectric
system—hurting Oregon farmers and
salmon protection efforts.
An immediate shutdown would immediately force
nearly 1,000 men and women at Trojan out o f work.
The power shortages and higher electric bills caused
by Measures 5 and 6 would hurt employers throughout
the state— threatening thousands o f other Oregon jobs.
In the midst o f our drought, an immediate shutdown of
Trojan would increase the pressure to use more hydro-
power, leaving Oregon farmers with even less water for
crop irrigation and hurting efforts to protect endangered
salmon runs.
