Letters to the Editor
Miller will improve efficiency
To the Editor:
Randy Miller is not a career
politician. He has personal, real-
world experience of the impact
government regulations have
upon individuals and businesses.
He is endorsed for secretary of
state by both the Farm Bureau
and the Ag PAC, an organization
consisting of the Oregon Cat
tlemen's Assn., the Oregon
Wheat League, Blue Mountain
Potato Growers, Oregon Water
Resources, Oregon Food Pro
cessors Council, Oregon Grass
Seed Growers, plus many other
ag-related groups.
His candidacy is also supported
by Norma Paulus, superintendent
of public instruction, and endors
ed by Rep. Bob Smith and Rep.
Chuck Norris. Randy Miller’s
varied experience should improve
efficiency in state government.
Additionally, he understands
where East Oregonians are com
ing from.

McEUigott cares about county
To the Editor:
We are writing to urge Morrow
County voters to elect Don
McEUigott for Morrow County
Commissioner.
A native of Morrow County
and a World War II veteran, he
received a degree in business ad
ministration from the University
of Portland. Don has been a
member of the lone School
Board, the Morrow County
School Board, chairman of the
lone Rural Fire District Board
and secretary-treasurer for the
lone Rural Fire District. He has
been a rancher for 46 years.
As our former county judge
and long-time head of the Long
Creek Cattlemen's Association.
Don has experience in govern
ment: he also spent five years on
the executive committee of JPTA
Consortium (27 counties) and
was the organizer of Counties
Computer Group. By working
with other counties he was able
to obtain more benefits for Mor
row County. He saved us the tax
payers, many thousands of
dollars by getting available
federal funds for our county roads
and highways, including the over
pass near Irrigon. He and War
ren McCoy worked very hard for
that one.
Don knows and cares about the
problems of Morrow County. We
were very pleased when he in
itiated a summer program for
“ high risk kids” . The youths
worked under supervision in the
two county parks, and were paid
a minimum wage weekly. One-
third of this wage went back to
the county for restitution, one-
third was for their groceries,
(they cooked their own meals and
cleaned up afterwards), and the
last third they kept for spending
money. This program had a 75
percent success ratio. Judge
McEUigott got funds available for
this program from the Job Train
ing Act and from the Juvenile
Services Commission.
With Measure 5 looming over
us we feel that it is imperative to
have someone with governmen
tal experience, who knows the
county and its people, as county
commissioner. Don McEUigott is
that person. In his own words,
“ the county is the last bulwark
between the citizen and over
reaching federal bureaucratic
regulation.”
Please join us in casting your
vote for Don McEUigott on Nov.

To the Editor:
In reading the various letters
for candidates, 1 notice the trend
favors the challenging party
because they are “ honest upright
and to be trusted.” I’m sure most
of them are but the implication is
that the incumbent is the opposite
of these virtues, so you better get
rid of them.
When progress is being made
it is ridiculous to make a change
of the incumbent.
I would encourage a favorable
vote for Louis Carlson as Mor
row County Judge based on his
record while in office. He is a
lifelong resident of Morrow
C ounty and has a distinct concern
for its progress. His interest is
county-wide and it is reflected in
road improvements program. I
believe he has done an excellent
job in handling county finances in
the light of measure 5 impact.
We can show our appreciation
for a job well done by returning
Louis Carlson to office as coun
ty judge.

Irrigon
Glenn countywide representation
To the Editor:
It is very important that
everyone in north Morrow Coun
ty get out and vote on November
3. Without your for vote for Ed
Glenn for Morrow County Com
missioner, the north end of the
county could lose its representa
tion on the county court.
For 40 years we have held a
seat on the county court and that
is more important now than ever
before. Ed knows the problems
that growth in this end of county
has brought and will work hard
to solve them. We need this
representation.
Folks in Boardman and Irrigon
must turn out to continue the
tradition
of
countywide
representation.

treatment on a county wide basis.
With all due respect to Don
McElligot’s long and distinguish
ed record of public service to
Morrow County. I believe Ed to
be more aware of the needs and
issues of the north end of the
county than is Don.
I urge you to take this into con
sideration before making your
choice on November 3.
Yours very truly,
(s) John A. Prag
To the Editor:
I have never done this for a
candidate before. I am writing to
urge voters to support Don
McEUigott in his bid for Morrow
County commissioner. I am not
very political, but I’m old enough
to recognize an honest man and
I believe I’m smart enough to
identify a thinker as opposed to
a speaker of empty words.
Although I known Don
McEUigott for over 30 years, I
don’t pretend to know where he
stands on each particular issue, I
simply know that he stands for
Morrow County, all the time, on
every issue. I know that this man
cannot be bought, cannot be brib
ed, cannot be intimidated, and,
most importantly, cannot be out
talked when it comes to represen
ting the best interests of Morrow
County. This man will speak and
act for us without fear and
without
regard
to
any
self-interest.
Please help elect him. We need
this kind.
Sincerely,
(s) Anita M. Boyer
Wallace cares about eastern Oregon
To the Editor:
On November 3 you will have
the opportunity to express your
opinions about every level of
government.
When you go to the polls to
vote, please remember to vote for
Jeff Wallace for district court
judge. Jeff has lived in eastern
Oregon all of his life. He cares
about eastern Oregon. I’ve
known Jeff for more than 30
years and have always been im
pressed by his intelligence, kind
ness, and honesty and sense of
fairness.
Jeff has a wide variety of legal
experience in his background and
his experience as a prosecutor
will serve him well as he seeks
to keep our streets and com
munities safe places in which to
live.
Please remember to vote for
Jeff Wallace on November 3. he
will represent us well.
Thank You,

To the Editor.
With regards to the Morrow
County Commissioner race bet
ween Ed Glenn of Boardman and
Don McEUigot of lone, I would
ask the voters of Morrow Coun

and consider that the North end

represented for 40 years by a
representative from this end of
the county.
