New teachers welcomed to M orrow County

Teachers reported back to work on Monday. Aug. 24. Teachers new
to the district toured Morrow County on Tuesday. Following are the
new faces in the Morrow County school system.
Heppner High School L-R: Gwyn Franklin, counselor, student

The open log bucking contest
was won by Mike Adams, who
took the lead over Scott
McDaniel by only two hundreds
of a second, the closest finish
ever. Adams received cash and
prizes for his win.
Timers were Stan Kemp and
Lorene Montgomery; recorders
were Kaedene Bailey and Darcy
Coil; judges were John Britt and
Burke O ’Brien and Paul Sumner
was the announcer.
Fair showmanship winners announced

School FFA was the FFA

Jay Coil took home a tidy $600
purse, plus prizes for winning
first place in the Morrow Coun
ty class log bucking contest.
Coil's times were 28.02 and
29.29 for a 57.31 total.
Mike Adams finished second
with times of 28.51 and 29.65 for
a combined time of 58.16. He
won $450 and prizes.
Third place was Scott
McDaniel, who took home $300
for times of 30.98, and 28.56, for
a combined time of 59.54.
Fourth place and $ 150 went to
Roger Mortimore with times of
29.95 and 31.36 for a combined
61.31.
Fifth place went to Pat Lovgren
with times of 30.73, and 33.73
