    Special Fair and Rodeo edition August 12, 1992 - Seventeen
$100 jackpot goes to log bucking winner
It will be “Hat’s OfF’ and
$100 cash prize and 50 gallons of
gas to the winner of the 1992
Amateur Log Bucking Contest to
be held Sunday, August 23 begin­
ning at 10:30 a.m. at the Morrow
County Fairgrounds. The open
class winner will receive the
jackpot plus entry fees and 50
gallons of gas donated by Devin
Oil. Cash prizes plus 50 gallons
of gas will also be awarded in the
Morrow County class up to
fourth place. Entry fee is $10 per
Veteran clown to entertain at rodeo
An 18-year veteran of the
clowning business, Donnie Lan­
dis of Fresno, CA. is the 1992
Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo clown
barrelman.
Landis has worked many of the
Northwest rodeos, including the
Pendleton Round-Up for the past
inrec years.
Using “Q” cards to whip up
enthusiasm in the crowd, Landis'
acts
include
“Wild
Cantbeatalope,” “Mario, The
Trained
Flea,”
and
“Claimjumpers”.
Working with Landis will be
bullfighter Bruce Kimsey.

saws and no modified chainsaws
are allowed in the Morrow Coun­
ty class. Saws are limited to 5.7
cubic inches and under in the
Morrow County event. The con­
test is a timed event and two
timers will be provided. The con­
test is for amateurs only.

Every hat
has a story
Do you have a hat that has a
story to be told about it? This
year's Morrow County fair has
just the contest for you. Wednes­
day evening at 6:30 p.m. just
prior to the Chapeau Show will
be the Favorite Hat contest.
Come and enter your favorite
hat in the contest. Prizes wil be
given for the most original hats.
Hats may be old, new or even
created from your own imagina
tion. They can sing or dance or
tell a story. Whatever the hat. join
in the fun and enter the
favorite hat contest.
Entry forms are available at the
Morrow County Fair office or
write PO Box 464. Heppner En­
tries should be turned in by
August 19 at noon.

be at fair
As an added attraction, the
Morrow County Fair will once
again feature Randy’s Funland
Carnival for all four days of the
carnival. August 19 through 23.
Randy Ross' carnival from
Portland will have games, rides
and concessions for kids of all
ages.
4-H enrollment up from last year
To date, there are 274
members enrolled in the Morrow
County 4-H Youth Development
Program. There are 147 home
economics and expressive arts
projects, 181 livestock and horse
projects and 39 cultural heritage
and games projects. Horticulture,
natural resources and small
animal projects bring the total
project enrollments to 399. 4-H
project members enrolled by June
1, 1992 are able to participate in
county fair 4-H events and con­
tests. There will be lots of 4-H
project exhibits on display at the
1992 Morrow County Fair.
Come visit the 4-H Annex and
Livestock areas during fair to
view contest and other activities.
All fairgoers are invited to the
4-H awards ceremony on Satur­
day at 4:30 p.m.
Pit barbecue and all the trimmings
A pit barbecue and all the trim­
mings will be held at the All
Saints Episcopal Church on
Saturday, August 22 from 4 to 7
p.m. following the rodeo.
Hungry fair and rodeo goers will
have a chance for a delicious meal
in the shade between the rodeo
and livestock auction.
Besides pit barbecue beef, the
menu will include baked beans.

Prices are $7 for adults. $6
