Martingales have obstacle course
4-H Martingales practice on new course
Future Olympian? Perhaps
someday. But for now just Mor
row County 4-H members out for
a day of fun on a cross country
obstacle course outing. This cross
t
country event on the Gene and
Christy Crowell property in lone,
offered an opportunity for 4-H
members to practice up on some
of their skills.
The Martingale 4-H club of
lone hosted the four mile cross
country ride with 20 obstacles on
May 9.
Riders were Dawn Boor, Susan
Heideman, Brenda Holtz, Anne
McKendry, and Laurel Temple.
Best time for the course was set
by Anne McKendry of Irrigon.
The lunch barbeque was attend
ed by 28 family, friends, and
helpers.
Materials were donated by
M orrow
County
Grain
Growers.d D.V.M. Dick Temple
gave his time to do a mid-point
vet check of the horses. Gene and
Christy Crowell provided the use
of about 400 acres to establish
this course. Prizes were donated
by Cheney Raches of lone.
Anyone interested in a ride this
fall or anytime, contact Laurie
Barrow, 422-7515, or Christy
Crowell, 422-7564, evenings.
Organizers limit participation to
4-H members for the time being
and encourage Washington 4-H
clubs to join them.
