To the Editor:
We are writing this letter in
support of Peter Fels for district
court judge department 2. We
support Judge Fels for a number
of reasons, but we would like to
identify one area particularly. He
is a real advocate for education.
He strongly believes that how
people perceive the justice system
is very important.
At the invitation of teachers in
our area Judge Fels has visited
classes to discuss issues about the

judicial system. He has also in
vited classes to visit his court to
observe and to become ac
quainted with the proceedings.
After sessions he has then taken
time to explain what the students
saw and has answered questions.
We believe that Judge Fels’ in
terest in connecting the judicial
system to education is important
for voters to consider.

I am deeply concerned about the
number of drunk drivers on our

under the influence many times
before they are caught. This will
get worse due to decreasing
resources in our police

Wallace ideal
candidate
To the Editor:
I am happy to see such a large
group of judge candidates for
both district courts. It means that
we have a real choice this time.
In position No. 2, I am voting
for Jeff Wallace because I thnk
that he has the temperament and
training it takes to make a good
judge.
Crimes like domestic violence
and drugs have become a real
problem in this area. Jeff has
been prosecuting these types of
cases as a district attorney and
would bring that experience to the
judge position. He has dealt with
the police who are investigating
drugs in our community. He
knows the problems that police
deal with in our legal system and
the problems that crime victims
face as well.
Jeff is also extremely fair in the
way that he deals with people. I
think that is a very important
quality for a judge. Please vote
for Jeff Wallace for district court
judge in department number 2 on
May 19.
Yours very truly,

only pay if they want a card. With
the new plan, all of the residents
in the district pay only $10-12 a
household, or 25c/$1000.
It would be beneficial to all in
volved if there were a library
district. I feel that with all the ser
vices the Boardman Library of
fers (such as story hour, tax help
and access via computer to many
other libraries in the area), I
would be very sorry to see our
library closed. The opportunities
to have a vast bank of informa
tion for research, story hour, help
filling out their first tax form, or
even just to read a really good
book are opportunities that would
be sorely missed by the young
people in this area. Please vote
yes for the formation of the
Oregon Trail Library District.
Sincerely,

Vote for Wallace May 19
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in sup
port of Jeff Wallace, who is a
candidate for district court judge,
position 2 . 1 have known Jeff for
over 25 years. I have watched his
progress and development from
his first FFA public speaking
contest to his current position as
district attorney for Morrow
County. His qualifications make
him an ideal candidate for this
position.
Jeff is a life long resident of
Umatilla/Morrow counties, the
area he wishes to serve. He
knows and understands the peo
ple of Eastern Oregon.
He has both the education and
experience necessary for this job.
He is an honors graduate from the
University of Oregon and a law
degree from Willamette Univer
sity, College of Law. His suc
cessful practice of law span both
the private and public sectors. He
has worked with cities and
understands municipal law. He
also serves his state and country
in the Oregon National Guard as
a captain in the Judge Advocate
Generals Corps.
I am impressed by the way Jeff
deals with people. This stems
from the fact that he is conscien
tious and ethical about everything
he does. As a school ad
ministrator I have always ap-
precited his handling of cases in
volving children and sensitive
issues. His effort was not only to
see justice done but also to pro
tect the innocent in the process.
Jeff is a devoted community
leader. A quick look at the com
munity service he undertakes,
from scouting to drug prevention
workshops, from advisory com
mittees to the Oregon National
Guard, he gives of himself.
Fellow voters we have the op
portunity to elect the best
qualified candidate for this posi
tion. The facts tell us that person
is Jeff Wallace.

Murgo fair, thorough
To the Editor:
I urge you to support Rudy
Murgo for district court judge for
Morrow and Umatilla Counties,
department 1. As a former
Pendleton city council member,
I feel I can speak to the fairness
and thoroughness of his work as
a legal counsel. He also
demonstrates superior skills in in
terpersonal relations. Rudy
Murgo listens and does not lose
his composure when deliberating
a topic with dissenting views.
Rudy Murgon also takes an in
terest in his community having
served on youth and law related
committees and boards. One such
committee is the Blue Mountain
Community College Criminal
Justice Advisory Board.
Rudy Murgo would serve us
well as a district court judge for
Morrow and Umatilla counties
department No. 1.

Glenn has vision for county
To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Ed

I have visited with Ed enough to
know that he has a vision of what
Morrow County and this area can
become in the years ahead. I also
believe him to be a person who

Glenn has forsight, integrity
To the Editor:
Ed Glenn and I haven’t always
agreed at all times on every issue
(i.e., the prison), but I am im
pressed with his foresight, in
telligence and integrity.
He's outspoken, and a genuine
ly sincere man with a great sense
of duty and a great sense of
humor.. .all qualities it takes to be
in politics now days.
I’ll be casting my vote for Ed
Glenn for county commissioner
on May 19.

To the Editor:
I am writing to inform people
of the Oregon Trail Libary
District. If the present situation
is allowed to remain,the libraries
of both Board man and Heppner
are threatened with closure.
These libraries are now funded by
city governments that are serious
ly strained for many reasons.
I am a senior at Riverside High

Boardman since my freshman do
in school. I use the library for

time, and never had to pay.
However, my parents did.
The current “ balance” is that
city residents pay $40-50 a
