day Night Sparetimers League.
Central Market and the First
Interstate team were tied going
into the bowloff Saturday, April
25. but Central broke the tie, win­
ning three out of four games.

lone girls take fourth in Invitational

The lone girls took full advan­
tage of the good weather on
Saturday, April 25 to take fourth
place at the Sherman Invitational.
Danielle Stefani was a double
winner for the Cards, winning the
3000 in 12:07.1 and breaking the
school record in the 1500 in
5:10.61. April Taylor also
established a new school record
in the 800, where she finished
third in 2:38.59. She also had a
fifth in the javelin in 78’ 10” . Jan-
nie cupps took three fourth
places, in the high jump in 4 ’8” ,
high hurdles in 20.8 and the 300
hurdles in 58.0. Kim Bedortha
finished off the scoring with a
sixth place in the 1500 and the
1600 relay team finished third in
4:52.4.
Wahtonka had 77 points to win
the boys’ portion of the meet
where the Cards finished fourth
with 54. Deacon Heideman won
the discus in 132’lOVi” as well
as placing second in the high
hurdles in 16.8 and placing fourth
in the shot at 40’. David
Wagenblast was third in the 800
at 2:11.29. He also placed sixth
in the discus. Mac Lovett grabb­
ed fourths in both the 100 and the
200, 11.94 and 24.0 respective­
ly and Justin Miller took fourth
in the pole vault in 9’6” Mike
Garrett was fifth in the javelin in
134’10” and the 300 hurdles in
46.29. He was also sixth in the
shot in 39*1196” . Rounding out
the scoring was Jason Proudfoot’s
fifth in the 1500 4:42 and Jeremy
Green’s sixth in the 3000.
Struthers makes hole-in-one
Ed Struthers, Heppner, made
a hole-in-one at the Willow Creek
Country Club men’s tournament
held Sunday, April 26.
The hole-in-one was Struthers’
first in 30 years of golfing. Forty-
eight men attended the tourna­
ment. Struthers and Ed Hiemstra
also of Heppner, hosted the
breakfast.

The lone track teams had two
outings this past week. They co­
hosted the Helix/Ione Invitational
at BMCC on Tuesday, April 21
and traveled to the Sherman In­
vitational on April 25.
Gabe Garcia and Deacon
Heideman were double winners
at the Tuesday meet where the
Cardinals amassed an impressive
158 points to take first place.
W eston-McEwen was second
with 120. Garcia won the 100 in
11.6 and the 200 in 23.55 as well
as running a leg on the winning
400, 4 6 .7 , and 1600 , 3:44.56,
relays. Heideman won the discus
with a throw o f 137’ 11 ” and took
the 110 hurdles in 16.86. He also
took third in the high jump in
5 ’4 ” . lone’s only other first place
finish on the day went to Justin
Miller who improved to 10’0 ’ in
the pole vault.
Also placing for the Cardinals
were:
Ryan Halvorsen fifth in the
long jump 16’ 11” ; second-triple
jump 38’5 ” ; fourth-110 hurdles
18.7; third-300 hurdles 47.34.
Mike Garrett placed third in the
shot, 38’2Vi” and sixth in the
javelin 109’3 K ” .
Brian Holtz put the shot
3 4 ’1 ’A ” for sixth place and was
sixth in the 100 with a time o f
12.0, fourth in the 200 24.97.
Fourth in the discus was David
Wagenblast with a throw o f
111*2” . Wagenblast also placed
second in the 800, 2:10.78.
Jake Deputy came in fifth in the
javelin with a throw o f 114’10” .
He high jumped his way to fourth
with a 5 ’2 ” jump.
Third in the 1500 was Jason
Proudfoot, 4:44.1 and fourth in
the 800 with a time o f 2:19.6.
Mac Lovett placed second in
the 100, 11.72 and second in the
200, 23.78.
Rodney Ehrmantraut placed
sixth in the 400, 66.55 while
Heath Cotterell placed fifth 65.75
and fifth in the 300, 12:00.53.
Mike Phillips placed second in
the 3000, 10:21.6.
Weston-McEwen won the girls
side o f the meet with 110 points,
lone was fourth with 74.
Crystal Minster had lone’s only
win with a jump o f 2 7 ’11” in the
