Do you know we all get a
bonu day this year. Possibly it
mean most to those born
February 29 or those waiting to
propose , as was the old custom.
"USA Weekend" has the be t
idea of all . February 29 falls on
a Saturday and they invite one
and all to tum that day into
"Make A Difference Day" in
their communities. What special
project or effort could each of u
do that day that would make a dif-
ference in our lives and in tho e
of others? It's our own personal
choice what we do this Leap
Year, but let's make it a "feel
good" day by making a dif-
ference. For added incentive
" USA Weekend.'' is sponsoring
a contest with $1,000 going to the
" cause" of the winner's choice.
Aside from that, what a snowball
effect that day could have. The
greatest award would be far more
than monetary . There are still
millions of caring people in
America ... we just don't hear
about them.
St. Patrick' s celebration is just
one month away . Call Bob Kahl
or Steve Rhea to pick-up auction
items. Our local motel and bed
and breakfast is full so encourage
visitors to bring RV's or clean out
your guest room. Behind the
scenes, golf carts are being
decorated, green shamrock and
heep costumes are being created,
Irish food and music are being
rehearsed, schedules are being
finalized and people are practic-
ing for the lamb cook-off. 'Tis
hard work but rewarding. Hepp-
ner is known far and wide for "A
Wee Bit O' Ireland in Oregon. "
