Area garden clubs plan for bigger, better flower display
Morrow County Fair is upon us.
Are you ready? The Heppner, Ione
and Lexington Garden Clubs are
making plans for a bigger and bet-
ter flower show. *’We hope that
everyone who has flowers will bring
at least one or more exhibits to share
with others in the county,” said a
Cal’s Cafe
& Lounge
garden club spokesperson. ‘With all
the beautiful yards in the area, if
each one contributed something we
would have a better overall exhibit.”

General directions and helpful
hints can be found in the premium
book on page 51. For longer lasting
flowers the flower show committee
suggests that flowers are cut late in
the afternoon, place them im
mediately in lukewarm water and set
in a dark place away from a draft.
They also suggest that you note the
number of blooms or sprays for an
exhibit and whether leaves are re
quired. ‘It saves a lot of time when
entering flowers if you have a list of
the division and lot for your en
tries.”
