A basketball camp for local girls
and boys in grades six through 12
has been planned for Friday and
Saturday June 14 and 15 according
to organizer Lee Padberg
Early registration cost for the two
day shooting camp is $40. which in­
cludes 9 hours o f floor instruction
and a camp T-shirt. The camp will
be taught by coaches at the Heppner
High School gym

Christine I. Franks, 65, o f Board-
man died Tuesday, May 14, 1991 at
St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.
Mrs. Franks was born June 9,
1925 at LaJunta, Colo., to Wesley
and Lucy McNew. She had lived at
Eugene for 20 years before coming
to Boardman a year ago.
She was a member o f the Board-
man Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry
Gay of Roy, W A .; daughters JoAnn
Jack of Langsville, Ohio; Janice Gay
o f McKenna, W A .; Marcella Kin­
dred of Yelm, W A .; and Colleen
Nelson of Clarkston, W A .; sisters
Clarice Cashier of Pueblo, Colo.;
and Marie Brown in Tennessee; nine
grandchildren
and
four
great-grandchildren.
There was no funeral service.
Bums Mortuary, Pendleton was in
charge o f arrangements.

Mahon, former Heppner area resi­
dent, were held at the Elgin
Cemetery, Elgin, on May 20.
Mrs. Mahon was bom at Hardman
on July 28, 1925 and died at
Wallowa on May 16, 1991.
Survivors include sons Tom,
Council, ID .; Bob, Corvallis and
Mike, Wallowa; a daughter Joanne
Collins. Walla Walla, W A.; an aunt.
Daisy McDaniel; 11 grandchildren;
and numerous cousins, including
Yvonne Connor o f Heppner.

A graveside funeral service was
held for Helen L Hinton on Satur­
day, May 18 at the Heppner Masonic
Cemetery
Mrs. Hinton, 78, of Heppner, died
Tuesday, May 14, 1991 at Pioneer
Memorial Hospital in Heppner.
She was born May 9 , 1913 at
Donnelly, Idaho to Edward Ward
and Mernerva McNames.
On May 6, 1933, she married
George F. Hinton at Vale. They liv­
ed at Spray and John Day for many
years and lived in Heppner in 1941
and in 1947, returning to Heppner
permanently in 1972.
Mrs. Hinton was a member o f the
Church of Jesus Christ o f Latter-Day
Saints.
Her favorite hobby was Fishing
and she also enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include a daughter Max­
ine Patterson o f Heppner; a sister,
Estell Jasper o f Lewiston, ID .; six
grandchildren and six g reat­
grandchildren. Her husband died in
January and a daughter Pauline
Cecil, also preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Pioneer Memorial Nur­
sing Home, 1*0 Box 9, Heppner,
97836.
Sweeney Mortuary, Heppner, was
in charge o f arrangements.
