Hands on Science
registration begins

Hands on Science winter class
registration has begun. All new
classes start the week of January 7
in Heppner.
Kindergarten-first grade class will
meet Mondays at 2:30 p.m. in the
Heppner Elementary school library.
The class is entitled “ Merrily We
Roll Along” . The children will rein­
vent the wheel and the many ac­
tivities that can be done with wheels
for work and pleasure.
Grades two-three class will meet
Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in the junior high

chase. Draw ing held at 2 p.m . S unday. W inners must
claim prizes by 4 p.m . Sunday. W inners nam es will be
posted in each store. Prizes not claim ed will be added to
next w e e k ’s draw ing. M ust be 18 years or older to enter.

“ Toymaker” . The children will
construct simple toys and games
each week. They will make use of
readily available materials to explore
principles of simple machines.
Grades four-six meets Tuesdays at
3:30 p.m. in the junior high
cafeteria. This class is entitled
“ Bright Ideas” . Students will
become inventors. They will make
a motor and a flashlight. They will
also experiment with gravity and
copper plating.
Registration fee is $42. There are
no prerequisites for participation in
the classes. Scholarships and
transportation reimbursements are
available from the Morrow County
Education Association, the Heppner
Masonic Lodge and grant ftinds.
