Vote no on Measure 5
To the Editor:
On November 6 you will be fac
ing a number of decisions that will
decide the future of Oregon. One
issue that will affect all of us is
Measure 5. It sounds good to have
property taxes reduced. However,
will the reduction in the taxes make
up for the loss of services all of us
will have? Will the reduction in taxes
make up for the loss of control at the
local level? Any decrease in one tax
will most assuredly create an in
crease in another tax. Measure 5
does not provide a solid alternative.
I urge each one of you to look very
closely at Measure 5 and ask
yourself if you are willing to suffer
the consequences if is should pass.
Please, for your sake and for the
sake of fellow Oregonians, vote no
on 5.

Mobley a spoiler
To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Dave
Frohnm ayer’s bid to become
Oregon’s next governor.
Dave Frohnmayer is a dedicated
family man who espouses those
family values which the Republican
party has long stood for. He has
done positive things to translate his
beliefs into action through legisla
tion. He has put himself on the line
for his principles and beliefs.
A1 Mobley’s candidacy is a threat
to the two-party system. A vote for
A1 Mobley, who has no chance of
winning, is really a vote for Barbara
Roberts. Please don’t waste your
vote needlessly when the Republican
Party has already nominated an
continue to be heard. We can’t af
ford to lose what has taken several
years of experience to gain. Please
vote for Oregon by voting for Mark
O. Hatfield on November 6.

We had one bunch from New

He can help Morrow County voice
our Eastern Oregon viewpoints on

outstanding candidate.
I know A1 Mobley, and know that
he is not temperamentally suited to
be the next governor of Oregon. He
does not have the ability to work
with people, or the experience in
government to be anything other
than a negative force in Oregon
politics. Although Mobley may
sound like a good candidate on
which to make a statement to “ those
politicians,” he is really nothing
more than a spoiler who will throw
the election to Barbara Roberts, a
dyed in the wool liberal.
Please elect Dave Frohnmayer as

Vote for Rauch
To the Editor:
As a resident of Morrow County
who has known Irvin Rauch over the
years, I want to give my
wholehearted support to Irvin in his
bid for re-election to the county
board of commissioners.
Irvin has served this county for as
many years both as a member of the
county school board and as a coun
ty commissioner. Very few people
could bring a broader range of ex
perience in public service to the posi
tion of county commissioner than
Mr. Rauch.
I have personally worked with Ir
vin for several years as a fellow
school board member. I know first
hand that he is extremely honest and
dedicated. He is a willing listener

Irvin has a great interest in the

Those who know Irvin, know him

I urge you to vote to retain Irvin

Write in Pat Wright
To the Editor:
It’s time to look at the past and the
future.
In the past few years. Morrow
County voters have seen Pioneer
Memorial Hospital bounced around
like a tennis ball by the county court.
The court promised to get out of the
hospital business but again we are
faced with St. Anthony pulling out
before the year ends. One member
of the present court is running for
re-election.
Another county resident, running
for the commissioner job formally
one of your representatives in Salem,
as I recollect tried to get legislature
to improve hunting rights for a select
few and his own ranch.
We have another choice, although
a write-in vote, Pat Wright. She has
served us in Morrow County as a
member of the school boards,hospi
tal boards and city council of Lex
ington. Not counting the 16 years as
a nurse for Morrow County. The
above alone tells me she had and has
an interest in the people of Morrow
County.
It’s time to take a hard look at
voting party lines. One no longer
follows any set rules and if the other
candidate you feel can do the job, go
for it.
I feel Pat Wright has these
qualities. Join me in writing in Pat
Wright for commissioner.
Thank you

Re-elect MIKE NELSON
State Representative District 59
Frohnmayer for Governor
To the Editor:
At the last gubenatorial debate, A1
Mobley was asked if he knew the
county seats of Malheur and Gilliam
Counties. He did not know either
one. I think that this points up the
fact that he has only lived in Oregon
a short time.
Dave Frohnmayer, on the other
hand, knows Eastern Oregon. He
has traveled extensively throughout
this part of the state. He has been to
the larger towns and the smaller ones
as well.
A vote for A1 Mobley is really a
vote for Barbara Roberts. A vote for
A1 Mobley is a wasted vote, because
he has no chance of winning. He can
only be a spoiler.
Dave Frohnmayer is an im
pressive candidate who has the
background and experience as a
legislator and attorney general to be
an outstanding governor. Dave will
best represent the interests of this
part of the state in Salem.
Please join me in voting for Dave
Frohnmayer for our next governor.

For Ray French
To the Editor:
Some weeks ago a ‘warning’ that
one of our county commissioners
was running for re-election begn ap
pearing in our newspapers. Sensing
a crisis of credibility, I paid it little
mind. Even so, the insistent tenor of
the repeated message finally con
vinced me-1 will heed the ‘warning.’
I read more recently that he is
‘wanted’. I have not verified this
with the sheriff, but I guess I’m not
surprised. Perhaps, we will next
read that he is ‘retired’.
During these same weeks, Ray
French has been highly visible, has
met with hundreds of people to
discuss the issues and has explained
to all his common sense approach to
open government.
Ray French spent four years in
Salem representing all of us. In par
ticular, Ray is inquisitive in city
issues and their interrelationship
with county issues.
I hope you will join me in suppor
ting Ray French for Morrow Coun
ty Commissioner. He has earned our
votes and will be a fine
commissioner.
