Letters to the Editor
A1 Mobley, a solid conservative
To the Editor:
Should conservatives waste their
vote on a liberal? If they vote for
Mobley would they end up electing
liberal Barbara Roberts for governor
instead of liberal Dave Frohnmayer?
I voted for Ronald Reagan,
George Bush and Vic Atiyeh. I will
not be voting for Frohnmayer. On
conservative issues (such as bring
ing common sense to LCDC, etc.)
there isn’t much difference between
Roberts and Frohnmayer.
Frohnmayer has said he would
sign "gay rights" bills that pass his
desk. He also told the Eugene
Register Guard (May 14, 1990) that
although he is disquieted by conve
nience and sex selection abortions he
would do nothing to stop them.
Craig DeMo, one of several
Christian lobbyists, sent letters to
pastors around the state asking them
to not support Independent A1
Mobley. DeMo’s own board did not
endorse his action. He spoke for
him self—out o f fear. Fear of
Roberts. One of those fears, fear she
would hurt home schoolers, was
discredited during the Eugene debate
when she said she supports the rights
of home schoolers.
Yes, there'a s chance a vote for
Mobley might help elect Barbara
Roberts to governor. However, no

Democrat governor has been re
elected in this century. There is no
guarantee she would be re-elected.
Just maybe next time around the
Republicans would put up a can
didate we could all get behind so we
would not have to vote for the lesser
of two evils.
If conservative Democrats and
Republicans stick together and vote
for Mobley we could elect an In
dependent for governor. Oregonians
elected an Independent for governor
in the 1930’s and we can do it again
in 1990.
Don’t waste your conservative
vote on a liberal. Vote for A1
Mobley for governor.
Sincerely,
(s) Vem Kube
