Local growers display in crop exhibit
The Morrow County Fair Com
mercial Crops exhibit is a great op
portunity for county growers to
display and promote their products.
Exhibit guidelines include: half a
bushel of clean wheat; ten pounds of
potatoes, or three bales of hay. For
specifics see the 1990 Morrow
County Premium Book, Department
V, Commercial Crops, Page 29.

will be held at the fairgrounds, are

New special interest
displays new to fair
Part of the fair’s new look this
year will be small outdoor garden
scenes to be arranged in lattice
framed covered booths 8 feet wide
by 7 feet deep along the south out
side wall of the big barn. They are
to contain live and/or cut plant
material, forming a garden or patio
scene.
Any organization, family or in
dividual is eligible to prepare this
display. Each exhibitor preparing the
display will receive $10. Premiums
will be first-$15, second-$10 and
third-$5.
The displays will be judged on
general appearance, originality,
quality of material, color and design.
Reservations should be made with
the floral superintendents (676-9721
or 676-9435 or at the fair office
676-9474.

14,000 acres of potatoes. The value
at the farm of over $27 million,
made Morrow County number one
in potato production in Oregon.
Morrow County harvested
6,720,000 bushels of wheat from
104,000 acres of land in 1989. Our
county is two in wheat production in

In addition. Morrow County was
third in field com production, and
first in grape production. County
barley production was fifth in the
state even with a sizable number of
barley base acres lost to the Conser

(22,000 acres), apples (850 acres),
sweet com (2800 acres), popcorn
