Bed race bigger than last year
Erin Go Bragh. St. Patrick’s day is coming and at this center, we’re ex
cited. We’ve sent fliers and invitations to every senior center and mealsile
in Eastern Oregon and we’re planning multiple activities for next week’s
celebration.
This week: Oops, we were mistaken about the knitting classes on Mon
day. They start the first Monday in April.
Tuesday the Class of ‘50 met in our front room to make further plans
for their fortieth reunion.
Friday at 9 a.m. in the front room our cooks, Marilyn Bergstrom and
Mary Ella Moyer are giving a food sale with proceeds to go for some items
they want in the kitchen.
Sunday: potluck. This is the second Sunday of every month at 4 p.m.
This Sunday we’re leaning toward bringing a favorite ethnic dish. If you
haven t a tavorite foreign dish, it doesn’t matter. Bring whatever you like.
Your participation and enjoyment is more important than what you bring.
Everyone is welcome.
Next week: Monday at 1 p.m. is quilters’ day.
Wednesday: the noon dinner menu is beef stew with vegetables, coleslaw,
orange juice, buttermilk biscuits and pineapple upside down cake. Host and
hostess for March are Bud and H arri^ Batty. Serving helpers will be from
the Lutheran churches.
At 1:30 p.m. the Senior Center Board meets in the office.
Friday: the Methodist Church will serve their big Irish Stew dinner in
the dining room beginning at 5:50 p.m. Remember how good it was last
year?
Saturday: from 7:30 to 10 a.m. we seniors will serve a full country
breakfast (sausage, eggs, potatoes, pancakes, fruit and coffee) at the annex
at the fairgrounds.
At parade time, you will see our float in the lineup.
From noon to 4 p.m. we serve home made bread, potato soup, pic and
coffee in the dining room.
All day we are showing Irish videos on our TV in the front room. Also,
our Irish quilt will be on display there. Raffle tickets are $1 each. Come
by and kiss the Blarney stone with us.

Last week we ran an ad asking for people to donate items
for a fund raising auction. Proceeds from the auction are
|p be used to help to finance the St. Patrick’s Day weekend
celebration and activities.
Over 100 items were donated last year. To date this year
only 2 dozen items have been donated locally. We have
some items donated by celebrities but that will only com
prise a small part o f the auction.
To support a good cause, look around the house, in the
garage, in the attic, in the basement, and the closet, and
see what you can find. It can be something new, something
used, something big or something small; an antique, or
a unique, a collectible, or memorabilia.
We would like to have all items by March 14 so we can
prepare an auction list for distribution. Please contact one
o f the following people and we will gladly see that your
donated item is picked up. Thanks for your support.
