Coats for kids project expands

Himsemakers “ Cuaix for Kids pro­
ject started about 7 years ago with
a before Christmas g ift o f a coat for
a needs child Mayko Buchanan, this
year's chairman o f clothing states.
"H has grown into a year around col­
lection project and expanded to fill

clothing item or other needs a child
may have Sometimes we pay for a
s p irts physical, athletic shoes,
glasses or help with field trip fees "
M ayko and her volunteer committee
members are Juanita Tyan and Iret
ta rx*>nes They make 'new' articles
o f clothing by mending, washing,
replacing buttons and zippers and
sometimes buying new garments if
a ch ild ’ s need cannot he filled from
their collection United Way also
helps
suppirt this program and
now each year a special yard sale is
scheduled for fund raising U xiking
to the future. Mayko says, "som e
day these children may help so­
meone else in need, then we w ill
know our venture has been a sue
cess We sincerely appreciate the
past contributors and our hope is
they increase th ro u g h o u t the

no mercy to the Pilot Rock Rockets,
winning 53-11
The Pirates took control with
strong inside play, leading the

had another easy w in, to remain
undefeated in league, dominating
over the Stanfield Tigers, 87-49
The Pirates had a strong offense
with five players in double figures
Sophomore C lint Finley scored 20
points to fill the high scoring
position
Riverside's offense wasn't all that
carried them to their big win Their
defense was strong and allowed tfie
Tigers only 49 points
The Pirates made sure the win was
all theirs hy scoring 34 points in the
final quarter
