The lone boys varsity suffered
through a dow n weekend, losing to
perennial powerhouse Condon on
Friday and folding to Culver on their
home court Saturday
Ice cold
vhooling and tw o tough hall clubs
brought the Carindals to their knees
Their season record tails to 5-9. their
league record goes to 3-3
Friday, lone visited the Condon
Blue D evils, who have beer ranked
as the lop team in the state in the ear
ly polls C ondon's roster includes
eight seniors and is the same club
that placed third in the state tourna
men! last year Condon ran a full
court press against the Cards in the
early goin g, frustrating the young
Cardinal guards The Blue Devils
led by as many as 30 points before
cruising to a 67 54 victory
lone took the court looking in
timidated and playing tentatively
Condon pounced early, leading 22 4
by the end o f the first quarter The
Cards pulled it together somewhat in
the second quarter to score 16 points
but Condon took a 42-20 advantage
to the locker room at the hall The
Blue D evils scored 17 points to the
Cardinals seven in the third quarter
before the Condon starters retired to
the bench The Cards doubled their
game-scoring output in the lounh
quarter by making 27 points but their
efforts were futile

the Cardinals to be the high scorer

face the Wahtonka Eagles
The
Mustangs lumped out to a 16 to 13
lead at the end o f the first quarter,
but after a lour point second quarter
the Mustangs found themselves
down by four
The Mustangs then regrouped aixl
came out a different team forcing
turnovers and taking a h>ur point
lead by the end o f the quarter The
Mustangs outlasted a late surge by
the Eagles to win by 10. 61 to 51
Slater M itchell lead the Mustangs
with 20 points, follow ed by Russell
Hritt with 15 points Brandon Pedro
had six rebounds and four steals in
the victory
The Mustangs now m ove into a
two-way tie for second place with
the Umatilla Vikings The Mustangs
are now five and one in C B C play
