The Heppner Ponies played their
final football game of the year in
Condon on Oct 2b. in extremely
cold weather
Heppner started out very Iasi T he
first play Irom scrimmage was a
20 yard gain Soon after the Ponies
punched it in from the three yard line
to nuke the* score 7 0 Heppner s
game was well played from there on
<*ut Heppner had a punt return for
a touchdown late in the game to
nuke the final score 39-0 Heppner *
final season record was 4-3 The
results o f the entire season are as

the Fillies season as they fell just

didn't nuke the plavolts. but I'm not
disappointed in Ihe way the Fillies
played h ard ."
The tired-up Fillies came out hot
in the first game js they dominated
the Pirates Heppner won the gank*

Stookey. who served for six points
The momentum started to turn on
the Fillies in the second game ax
Riverside started to nuke their com­
eback The Pirates won game two.

The third and deckling game was
a classic battle between the two M o r­
row Co rivals as both teams fought
hard for every point Rivervtde went
on to w in the match and become the
CBC Western Division Champs
The Heppner Fillies ended their
fine season with a 10-8 overall
record and were b 4 in the CBC
Jennifer Currin was selected to the
CBC All Star first team and Nikki
Brtshots was a second team

As the 7th graders were warming
up. the Hth grade girls were ready to
challenge their opponent Hours of
practice paid o ff as Heppner girls
defeated the Devils in two games
There was some uncertainty as to
what to do when the electricity went
off during a rain storm, hut the 7th
grade girls went ahead and played
then first game Although it was get
ting a little dark in the building. the
Ponies won anyway The Devils
won the second game and because of
lack o f light the last game was
cancelled which resulted in a tie
