September h and 7 this year, and will
be at PGG. Pendleton and Simplot,
Umatilla respectively
Pesticide Collection Days is a free
opportunity to get rid o f those emp^
ty pesticide containers that you have
been collecting It is an attempt by
the Oregon Agricultural Chemical
Association to deal positively with
pesticide containers If the program
is successful, it should help avoid the
passage of unnecessary legislation
con trollin g pesticide container
disposal.
This is a voluntary program which
costs the grower nothing It is a
model program intended to avoid ad
ding unnecessary addition costs to
pesticides
Volunteers at the collection sites
will ask you to sign a certificate con­
firming that all pesticide containers
have been triple nnsed. punctured
both top and bottom, and crushed for
easy transportation

The regular Garden club meeting
was held August 7 and was hosted
by the John Murrays It was a
potluck dinner and due to the
cooperative weather was enjoyed on
their lovely large patio
Business included finalizing of
Fair preparations for flower and
plant displays Announcements o f
future dates for activities included
the first District 10 flower show
September 23 and 24 to be held in
Peisdleton at Hawthorne School The
Heppner Club will he handling the
awards Special meeting o f all
District 10 garden clubs will be Qc-
tober 20 in Condon
The program was a generous shar­
ing o f his excellent slides o f wild
flowers and animals by Beryl
Stillman
Due to the holiday, the next
regular meeting has been changed to
Tuesday. September 5 , 7 :3 0 p.m at
the Seniors' Center Hostesses will
be Jane and Bill Rawlins assisted by
l>disy Collins and Alberta Johannes
Irene Swanson will give a presen
tation on chrysanthemums, their
grow th pattern s, cu ltu re and
arrangments
