New principal hired for HHS Jr.
Steve Dickenson, 37. has accepted
a contract offer to be the principal
at Heppner High School beginning
immediately He replaces Jim Bier
who resigned effective in July after
many yean, at Heppner High School
Mr Dickenson received his
Bachelor's Degree from l.infield
College in 1975 and Master's
Degree from Southern Oregon State
Col lege m 1979 He earned .id
ministrative certification from the
University of Oregon in 1981 This

began at the University ot Miami

4-H Japanese exchange
program underway
While more than 20 Oregon 4 H
members and their chaperones are
getting settled in the Japanese way
of life. Oregon families are welcom
ing more than 160 Japanese students
into their homes this past week
The Japanese junior and senior
high students arrived July 22 to
begin a month's visit to the stales
They will live and work with host
families in lb counties including
Morrow County
The Japanese students went to the
OSU campus for orientation and a
picnic with their host families and
odvers before departing for their host
families homes The 1-ABT) students
will he hosted by families in Benton.
