"Raised Bed Gardening" was the
subject presented by Phyllis ArxJer
son at d x lone Garden Cluh meeting
at her house on May 10 She uses
this methsxl for her vegetables She
uses 2 x 8 ' hoards to enclose a 3 x
6' bed and fills it with compost, soil
and fertilizer to nuke a good bed
One shixild determine the size by
reaching to the center o f the bed
thereby not requiring one to step in ­
to and compact the soil I f you do not
wish to use the hoards one can mere
ly round up the soil hut the moisture
doe* not hold as well She prefers to
water deeply and not so often In the
fall she cleans out the beds and adds
rabbit manure to have them ready for
planting again in the spring
During the business meeting,
plans were made for ( Lrcgon Garden
Week which is the first week in

The Fair Board has provided
souvenir pens with the dates o f our
Fair ami Rodeo which the Court w ill
pass out during the luncheons they
