Many adults over the age of 50

tetanus because they have not kept
their immunity up The incidence
seems to peak in the summer when
people arc outdoors more
Tetanus is an acute fatal disease
caused by the tetanus bacillus, an
organism that cannot survive in the
presence of oxygen
