Nature is not benevolent to
humans who abandon science and
technology
There is nothing
"natu ral" about planting fields of
crops or raising a herd o f domestic
animals Nor is it ' natural" for
large human populations to live
without coexisting vermin an»! the
diseases they transmit In the United
States each year, pesi borne diseases
and attacks by pests themselves still
account for hundreds o f deaths,
thousands o f serious disabling il

Without deliberate human interven

the world's food producing capaci

forgotten virulence In short, huge
numbers o f humans would suffer and
die
Pesticides provide three important

There is the story of a htilc girl who is sjk I to fuse rrnurked to a Scotsman
playing the bagpipes If you let n go. it will stop screaming " In fairness.
I have lived in Scotland and I love (he bagpipes, but adapting that comment
I would u y that unless wc let go o f our hurts they will go on screaming
inside us Equally, unless wc leam to forgive and love we will never he
able to convince others o f the Christian message An American profevsnr
o f Theology said this " W c want none o f your talk o f forgiveness, wc want
to see a community where forgiving, accepting k » e is happening and chang
ing personal behavior ”
A friend o f mine, loot from Heppncr). had an argument with his wife
one evening Afterwards, he had to go out and preach the Gospel, so he
said goodbye and went o ff But on his way to the church (io d spoke to this
pastor and this is how the pastor described the dialogue between himself
and the laird John, said the laird, you go hack and apologize to your wife
But la»rd. I have a very important sermon to preach tonight You go and
apologize to your wife But laird, there are hundreds o f people waiting for
me and we re going to have a good time tonight You go and apologize
to your wife But laird. I'm almost late and someone's waiting to collect
me Alright, said the laird, you go and preac h your sermon and I'm going
to stay with your wile in the kitchen Pastor John ended the story with these
words I went back into the kitchen and apologized, so there was revival
in the kitchen before there was revival in the church G» h 1 has forgiven us
a million times more than wc shall have to forgive anyone else So let'*
nuke sure that we arc not holding anyone in the pris4»n o f our un forgiveness,
whether the fault was ours or the other persons
laird Jesus. I release from my resentment
and pray for your love for
him her Amen
