Council has been scry busy with pep
assemblies and a Valcnfinc's fun
draiser They sold candy grams for
Valcnfinc's day and made a small
profit out of them They will he has

just funded $140 for a pipeline
workshop that was held Feb 22

Although the Heppner Fillies were
able to shut down Weston
McEwen's high scorers (Mary
Hgtrklund and Dawn Shepard) they
weren’t able to stop the rest o f the
Tiger Scots as they upset Heppner
in the district championship game

Hcppncr took an early lead behind
Jennifer Currin's four first period
points Weston McEwen's Dawn
Shepard was sidelined laic in the first
quarter with two fouls so Heppner
was able to go inside toCurrin After
one period Hcppncr led 8-4
Joy Clide well picked up the slack
for the Tiger Scots early in the se
cond quarter, scoring the first three
points Heppner was also out re
bounded in the period which led to
easy baskets tor the Tiger Scots live
Fillies were able to keep the game
close, however, and were only
behind by one. 13-12. at the halt
Heppner ended the first half with
a cold shooting spell and opened the
second with a continuation of cold
shooting Weston Me l.wen took ad
vantage of this and went ahead 23 12
before the Fillies scored Heppner
never gave up and mounted a late
third period rally Tami Lindsay
scored twice to close Weston
McEwen's margin to five points.
