TJiorheck reported that the tax
practitioner licensing law has helped
weed out incompetent, dislionesi and
" f ly by n ig h t" operators But she
warned that taxpayers who rely on
unlicensed individuals have no
assuranccd the practitioner is either
knowledgeable or ethical "T a x
payers should steer clear of anyone
who wants to prepare their returns
fo r pay but w on't sign the return in

have something to hxle. ami it's pro­
bably the tact that they aren't
qualified or licensed to do the
