MCHS meets for
regular meeting

Sheirbon
Janet Kim Carver and Douglas Erie Sheirbon were united in marriage
November 12. 1988 at the First Christian Church in Hermistoo. Ihe
ceremony was presided over by Marc Bull in* and Denis Whittet
The bnde's parents arc Richard and Beverly Lowry ot Hemuston The
grtaim's parents arc Leonard and Georgiana Sheirbon of Hood River
Matron of honor for her sister was Carol [Xirscy. Portland Bridesmaids
were Bev Mahoney, sister, Butte. Ml , Diane Stauffer and Pattie Kennedy,
both friends of the bride of Hemuston
Best man was Jerry Alldredge. Board man Groomsmen were Bill Sheir
bon. Lexington and Scott Sheirbon. Hood River, brothers of the groom
and David Piper. Heppner
Flower girls were Jessica and Jaccc Carver, daughters of the bride Ring
bearer was Danny Wilmarth
A reception was held after the ceremony at the church fellowship hall
Hostess was Vicqui Hook Cutting the cake was Debbie Sheirbon and scr
ving was Donna Davis. Coffee and punch servers were Lydia Hamson and
Penny Gavettc Kristi French attended the guest book Cheryl Wilmarth
attended the gift table
The bride wore a cream colored tea length dress made of lace over tat
feta Bridesmaids wore teal taffeta dresses The groom and groomsmen wore
silver tuxedos
After a wedding tnp to the coast, the couple is at home in Heppner

The Morrow County Private
Woodlands Association will hold
their annual meeting on January I V

meeting is being held in conjunction
with Morrow County’s Town and
Country Days In addition to a short
business meeting a program is plann
ed that will feature presentations of
two new slide programs One slide
tape locusts on a summary ot new
research about the mountain Pine
Beetle Another describes how to use
Designated Skid Trails for minimi/
mg logging impacts to forest sites
Both will be presented by Paul
Oester. Area Extension Forester
The slide programs were recently
developed at Oregon State
University
Anyone interested in forestry is in­

The board of Directors of the
Momiw County Historical Society
met a the home of Jim and Barbara
Bloodsworth tor their regular
Christmas party and meeting on
Monday evening A delicious roast
heef dinner was enjoyed after which
a short business meeting was held
A report was heard from Jean
Nelson on the Oregon Trail progress
and the signs The plaque for the
Hitching Post at the courthouse has
come and will soon he put in a ce­
ment have at the stone It was voted
to use some of the memorial money
for the Historical signs A report was
heard on the Indian markings on the
stone at the Imgon school and a
report is expected soon on the fin­
dings from the Umatilla Indian ar
chcoligist as to the date and the
meaning of the writings There will
he a plaque set there as soon as the
facts arc verified A plaque will he
set at the Boardman park for the
pump house (ga/ebo) given to the ci­
ty of Boardman This is from the
Sam Boardman rest area near Board
man. believed to he the first rest area
established in Oregon There was
sonic discussion of the M oitow
County newspapers stored at the
museum, and the need to he put on
microfilm The group voted to
budget an amount hoped to he suffi
cicnt for the microfilming of these
important papers An election of of­
ficers was held with president
Delpha Jones, vice president Harold
Peck, secretary-treasurer Ruth
McCabe
The next meeting will he at the
Darrell Vinson home on Butter
Creek A Christmas exchange was
enjoyed with an exchange of gifts
and visiting
Citizen-Educator
Award to
be presented
A new award being given this year
at the Town and Country banquet
Friday evening is that of
Citizen/Educator The award is has
cd on not only the person's capacity
as an educator, but on their contnbu
lion to their community and county
as well
Educators involved in active com­
munity service often convey this en­
thusiasm to their students “ Our
Future. Our County. Our Kids”
begins at home and is nurtured in our
schools.
It is hoped this recognition will he
an ongoing (Tiamhcr award for
Morrow County teachers who arc
visible in the community, thus cn
couraging community involvement
in education
In addition to Citizen/Educator,
awards for Man and Woman of the
Year will also he presented Friday

is scheduled to leave Boardman on
Saturday. March 11 Sponsored by
Community Women for Action, this
fundraiser will include a day of shop •
ping in the Tn-Cities area
The tour buses will load up pre-
regisiered shoppers at Riverside
High School in Boardman at 8 30
a m . A C Houghton in Irrigon at
8 4 3 a m and Short Stop Market in
Umatilla at 9 a m
The pre arranged day of shopping
will include Continental Breakfast on
the bus nde over, door prizes
throughout the day. lunch. Cham­
pagne and cider on the return trip
and lots of surprises arranged for
everyone

surgery at Ckaal Shepherd Hospital
in Hemuston and is reported ready
to resume her duties as a bus driver

Chamber's annual luncheon went
