tivities will include Sunday School
at 9:30 a m.. Worship Service at
10:30 a m , politick dinner for
everyone at 11:30 a m. with the
church conference immediately
following the potluck dinner

Casey Pedro, junior at Heppner
High School, was notified recently
that he has been chosen as one of
fourteen students throughout the
state of Oregon to serve on the
1988 89 Student Advisory Commit
tee of Verne A. Duncan. Slate
Superintendent of Public Instruction
He will represent his fellow
students and advise Mr Duncan on
issues that concern and affect high
school students in Oregon,
All meetings will take place in
Salem at the Oregon Department of
Education Their first meeting will
take place October 2 and 3 in Salem
This year's Student Advisory
Committee will be asked to look at
the area of student community ser
vice. ways that the »pint of service
can be instilled ui fellow and
methods for organizing such a pro
gram at the local school level.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a
main dish and a salad or dessert for
the potluck Paper plates, utensils
and drinks will be provided by the
church
The church conference of the
Heppner United Methodist Church
is the annual meeting of the local
church with District Superintendent
the Reverend Dennis Mullins All
friends and members of the church
are encouraged to attend
