The annual Memorial I>ay Picnic
was held ai the fairgrounds on Sun
day May 2*4 Fiosied by ihe Morrow
County Historical Society
Soroptimists registerd over 240
people that attended the days
festivities and enjoyed a day of
visiting
"The day was a huge success,
with the Community Choir entertain
ing beautifully. the American legion
did their usual good |oh presenting
the colors. Grace Baker read the
names of the the Morrow County
residents killed in the line of duly,
and Geneva Matthews played taps

with iris in antique bottles of all
kinds and descriptions, the garden

Pettyiohn’s Farm and Builders Supply has recently com
pleted their remodeling To begin with, they made a new en
tryway in the south end of the building for more convenience
for customers A special area was made for wallpaper books
so customers can sit down and look through their over 80
wallpaper books Also they coordinated their lines, hardware,
electrical, etc for more convenience and greatly expanded the
Radio Shack area

change Program, for a two month
stas in Australia
Kirsten applied lor the exchange
ihrough ihe Lion's National Founda
lion She was notified about three
weeks ago ol her selection to the
program She will lease Heppner
June 24 anil return August 19 She
is scheduled to stay one month with
one family and ihe other with
another family
Her part of the exchange is to give
slide presentations, pins and Hags to
I.ion's Clubs throughout the area
Kirsten will receive some dona

will lake care ol herself
When Kirsten was in Ihe fourth
grade, the Greens had an " Aussie"
stay with them as part ot an ex
change program. " This is when I got
interested in going lo Australia."
says Kirsten Now. thanks to the
Lions, her dream has been realized
She plans to attend Blue Mountain
Community College when she
returns from her trip
