Stanfield tops Heppner

The Heppner Fillies came up a
basket short to be defeated by Mac-
Hi last Tuesday. December 15
The Fillies began the game with
a great first quarter, dtwmnaiing high
scoring and rebounding, ending it
with a score o f 20-6. but by the end
o f the half the Fillies scoring slipped
a little and the half-time score
was 29-20 Heppner
The Fillies went into the third
quarter trying to pick up their
shooting percentage, but only
enough to hold o fl the Pioneers by
5 points, to end the third quarter at
*0 ) l
In the final quarter the Fillies
missed a few key shots, letting the
Pioneers bring the score to a
balance T w o o f the Pioneer girls
sank two out-side shots and a free-
throw to bring the score to 44 -41 In
the last seconds Nance Wright was
fouled and put on the line for two
free throws, she made her first one
but missed her second attempt when
Sandi Turner was fouled on the
rebound
Turner went to the line with one
second left, but failed to make cither
o f the buckets and with the short
time remaining nothing could be
done for the Fillies to tie it up. leav­
ing the game at 44 42, Mac Hi
Sandi Turner led the Fillies with
12 points and I I rebounds

Britt scored 12 points Padherg also
lead the Mustangs in rebounding

considering it's this early in the
season W e had our chance late in
the game but just didn't get the
bounce W e 're looking forward to
playing then again in January. " con­

This gave the Mustangs the second
place trophy for the tournament

The Mustangs were defeated by
the Mac Hi Pioneers last Friday
night December IS
The Mustangs came out try ing to
stop the Pioneer inside game, but in
doing this only left Mac H i's hot
outside shooter Rob Albee onen
Albco had 21 points for the game
