The Hcppner Fillies captured the
championship trophy in the Stanfield
Winter Basketball Classic on Satur
day, December 12, a.» they defeated
Columbia Burbank 41 30
The two teams battled to a 16-16
tie at the half, but the Fillies, scor
ing 17 third quarter points, pulled
away in the second half and coasted
in for the win.
The Filly defense allowed only 5
points in the third quarter as Tami
Lindsay, Libby Britt, and Sandi
Turner took control inside Lindsay
also scored 6 points in the decisive
third period
The Fillies again had a balanced
offensive scoring attack Jennifer
Curnn led the way with 9 points Jill

received plaques for their outstan
ding play in die tournament and were
placed on the All-Tournament team
The lone girls team played the
Wheeler Falcons on Saturday to
determine who would take third and
fourth place
The leading scorer for the lady
Cards was Mary Cupps, who scored
10 points and snagged 9 rebounds
The main reason that the Cardinals
lost was because of early foul
trouble
