I've heard a lot of talk about whether
u>mr public ofTicial or employee does
or does not earn what he's paid Hut that
discussion invariably turns out to be an
irguernent about how much he is paid
Salaries for public officials and
employees are public records and there
■bouklnt be a need to wonder Fhey are
generally published as part of each
igcncy's budget once a year. With

In conducting this survey, it became apparent to me that while some job*
»re so different that any direct comparison from one entity to another is
fruitless
As I see it. these folks should be compared with similarly situates]
employees in the private sector. Ihat comparison is hard to make since
private sector salaries are not generally available for publication Maybe
we should all have greater confidence Hi the boards and budget
[none of whom arc paid anything) who set those v.il.iries

Christmas displays makes people happy
To the Editor:
Tis the Season to be Jolly, and a
very good way is to drive around the
streets of Boardman and the roads
outside the town and view the
Christmas lights and decorations at
night Many beautiful displays both
large and small telling of much tunc
and expense to make our area a bit
more bright and cheery for others
Take someone along and look at the
displays, a small child really enjoys
the wonders of this season. Thanks
to everyooe who did a part of mak
ing a all possible, we enjoyed it very
much
Sincerely
(s) Arnold Braat
