John Prag
Promoter
1
One of the first people I met in Mor
row County was John Prag. Promoter
He was right there with the late Hill
Nelson, builder and practical joker
And Dewey West, mayor emeritus, and
Gene Allen, unbridled genius
John's trademark in those days was
the ever present stinky cigar He quit
those a couple of years ago but he hasn't
quit promoting Hoardman and Morrow
County
His business is real estate brokerage
kinder the name of Mountain Valley
I
H n I <1 Glenn
and Company but his first love is any
kind of "new" deal Some years back.
John organized the Riverside Boosters when he thought the local foothal
team needed the boost It was complete with a personal report from the
coach at lunch on Monday
John's name appears on the original board of directors of the old Board
man Commercial Club and he was instrumental in converting it to a member'
Chamber of Commerce when the time was right
John pmmotes business too He formed Par West Farms to buy the old
D O Nelson place and alter a few years of further irrigation development
sold it to the California based Hoardman Farms He organized Morrow Pro
ducc Company, one of the first developers in the Port of Morrow Foot
¡Processing P.nk He h a s .t s i z a b l e interest in Homestead Title Company
based in Hcrmiston
The "new" deal of (he moment is Mountain Valiev Manufacturing Com
pany. whose product is a soft top for a 4 wheel ATV The hope is that this
reject will employ several people in a year or so and that Morrow County
will have another little business to help diversify the economy
John continues to work on a project he's been with tor several years
is year he needs a little help John Pragc is Mr Oregon Business Week
n Morrow County and is responsible for sending more kids to OBW than
any other person in Eastern Oregon if not the entire state The
gon Business Week story is a remarkable commentary on the free enter
prise system at work and John loves to tell it He could use a helping hand
'rem some of us on this promotion
