Since September, staff at the Cir
cuit Court office has been reduced
from two to one person, and that's
not enough to keep the office open

Dimmer (Dimnjer), a nine year old
mare that was raised on her parents
ranch, and was trained solely by her

miles while participating in rodeos
in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
She didn't know until the last cou
ple of weeks that she would win the

November 10 to identify it's goals
for 1988 This committee was form
ed I W years ago with members Mar
tha Doherty. Jackie Allstoti. Joyce
Hollomon Dave Sykes. Don Cole,
Fred l undin. Jerry Peck and Claudia
Hughes gathering together to form
some common goals for Morrow
County and the tourism industry.
New members include John Ed
mund son, Cam Wishart, Mike Pro
ctor and Ken Turner. Barbara Hayes
and Doug Smith Jackie Allstott is
no longer a member
The committee developed and ap
proved the following goals for ihe
coming year assist where possible
in promoting the Western Route
Road, work toward better signage on
federal, state and local highways,
promote a state produced recreation
brochure listing camping marinas,
and other public facilities in Oregon,
and promotion and marketing of
south Morrow County through
brochures, advertising and other
media
The tourism has coordinated w ith
the North Central Oregon Tourism
Council (NROTC) to promote
tourism locally They think this is the
“ best strategy for economic
development for Morrow County"
says Fred Lundin. county agent
They have also met with the State
Tourism Division of Economic
Development and co-oidinated with
local organizations represented by
members of the committee
The next meeting of the Tourism
committee is De-ember 8 at 8 a rn
in the Extension Office The regular
meeting of the committee is the third
Tuesday of each month The public
is invited to allend

topped their $10,000 1988 goal

donation of $2.500 has boosted this
year’s total to $10.700 with several
companies still completing their
campaign One company that has
finished their fund drive is the Hcpp
ner branch of First Interstate Bank
Bank employees pledged a total of
$434 that was added to the corporate
contribution of $430 This is the sc
cond straight year that 100% of
branch employees have participated
in the campaign and have pledged
more than the corporate donation
Coming up shortly as part of this
years fund raising effort will he a
direct null campaign Many of the
small business that have not been
contacted directly will be given the
opportunity to contribute United

local nonprofit organization that
raises money to support a wide
variety of community organizations
They arc currently supporting fifteen
agencies that serve groups all the
way from day care centers and
scouting programs to senior citizen
organizations United Way attempts
to achieve maximum efficiency with
the dollars raised through the use of
all volunteer staff and a minimum of
administrative overhead All funds
raised locally remain in the county
through the support of only those
organizations that provide direct ser
vices to Morrow County residents
