in turn drives generators producing

A Umatilla woman was cited for
dnving while under the influence of
alcohol after the pickup she was
dnving crashed into Paul's Inn of the
Rtiad restaurant in Irrigon
Judith Ann Rhodes. 43. 623 E.
Street, Umatilla, was traveling west­
bound on Highway 730 when she
swung wide onto first street, then
shot across the restaurant parking lot
sinking the north west comer of the
building, according to investigating
officer. Rob Elkin of the Irrigon

knocked down, a concrete bench was
smashed, anil the comer of the

Rhodes was taken by ambulance
to Good Shepherd Hospital, Her-
miston, where she was hospitalized
overnight with a fractured knee and
lacerations, according to floor super­
visor at the hospital
The accident occurred at 1:30
p.m on November 7.
Hancock resigns as chief of police

Pol ice Chief Hancock has packed
his U-Haul and headed south

after three years of serving the city
as chief and three years as an officer,
to assume the position of Chief of
Police in Central Point, Oregon.
Hancock will he in charge of
twelve officers and a dispatch center
in the town of Central Point. Uxated

population of 8.000
His past experience includes ten
years as a special agent in the Naval
Investigative Service, a civilian
organization and the ten years he
spent working in the Los Angeles
Sheriffs Department
Steve Clearly will be the acting
Police Chief for the Boardman
Public Safety Department until so­
meone is hired, according to
Hancock.
Milt Reynolds will naive up from
assistant fire chief to ailing fire chief
until someone replaces Hancock.
