Counties w ill now m ail property
Us statements directly to the proper
ty owners as a result o f legislation
passed by the 1987 O regon
legislature, according to the Oregon
Department o f Revenue In the past,
many property owners received a
copy o f their property u s statements
from their mongage company The
counties mailed the u s statements
directly to the mongage companies
because they were responsible for
paying the taxes W hile the new law
does not change the responsibility
for paying the taxes, it does provide
all property owners their property
lax inform ation in November.
Property owners who are respon
siblc for paying their own property
uses should treat the u x statement
as their tax b ill and folk>w the pay
ment instructions on the statement
If property tax statements are not
received by November 15. property
owners should contact the Ux codec
tor o f the county in which the pro
perty it located to request a
statement.
